Alexandre will have to confirm, but I dont believe new controls can be created and updated via async calls unless he has added support for such. Normally all controls but already exist and be rendered as a visibility that renders them as hidden, then later you can change the visibility to true so they are shown.
17 can handle addition of new controls on the fly, but its still in (late) beta.

so you just make the edit normally but set it to invisble but render, then later in events you can toggle that visibility.

You can change properties as well of course in the event.... its just control creation that has to occur during a full or initial render.
