XI – IE6 support

XI – IE6 support

IntraWeb must move forward. A few users have chimed in about XI dropping support for IE6. But did you know Google, Microsoft, Amazon and others are dropping support for IE6 as well?

This is due to IE6 being a very old and obsolete browser. IntraWeb support to IE6 depends in a lot of old code, which would prevent us from going toward new modern browser technologies, as HTML 5, for instance. In IntraWeb XI code we removed all IE6 dependent code and now we can move forward.

Amazon.com

We would like to inform you that as of the end of March 2010, we will no longer develop Seller Account pages to be compliant with Internet Explorer 6. Internet Explorer 6 is no longer supported by Microsoft and is widely considered to be obsolete. It has multiple security flaws and is considerably slower than recent browsers. –Amazon

Google

Many other companies have already stopped supporting older browsers like Internet Explorer 6.0 as well as browsers that are not supported by their own manufacturers. We’re also going to begin phasing out our support, starting with Google Docs and Google Sites. As a result you may find that from March 1 (2010) key functionality within these products — as well as new Docs and Sites features — won’t work properly in older browsers. –Google
