Server Installation

To set up an IWS Server you will need the following:

  • IIS with .NET Framework 2.0 installed (Apache on Windows or Linux, or any other web servers are not yet supported)

The IWS server comes with an embedded database engine, we recommend to use this embeded database with your first instalation, as it will install easily. Optionally you can use an external SQL server, in that case you will need:

  • FireBird SQL Server (either local or remote)
  • Account on FireBird (Ask your DB administrator to create an account for IntraWeb Studio)

Run the IntraWeb Studio Server setup on the machine where IIS is running on.

The final step of the setup will ask whether a new IntraWeb Studio WebService should be configured. This option should be checked if this the very first setup of IWS Server. It will create a WebService entry in IIS which is required to enable the IWS clients to connect to the IWS repository server. If you leave this option unchecked, you can still start the "Configure a new IntraWeb Studio WebService" item in the start menu at a later point.

After clicking "Finish" a .Net Framework dialog might popup:

The service installation routine has detected that .Net is availble, but has not yet been registered to be used with IIS. You need to click "yes", otherwise IWS will refuse to work.

After a few seconds the "IntraWeb Studio WebService registration wizard" will popup.
