IWS Identifiers
IWS Identifiers provide the magic glue that prevents your links to internal documents (i.e. documents in the same project or in a project on the same repository server) from breaking, when you rename or move documents. The general format of an IWS identifier is this: {%URL.DOC.XYZ%} where xyz is an unique number on your repository server. It is a special variable that gets resolved on deployment: IWS will replace it with the current path and file name of the document while it gets processed in the deployment process. IWS also prevents you from deleting documents which are still referenced by other documents. If you want to check which documents link to the current document, select "Work -> Properties" in the Documents section (or right-click a file and select Properties). This will popup the properties dialog. Select the "References" tab:
The upper list shows all documents which are linking to the current document. As long as there are items in this list you can not delete this document, however you can rename and move it. The lower list shows all documents which the current document links to. As long as there are items in this list, you can not delete any of these documents. |
