IntraWeb Source Code

Source Code is Important

As you will undoubtedly notice IntraWeb contains some unique technology that is not available in other products. We strongly believe in source code availability. As a matter of fact IntraWeb's project engineer is the founder of the open source project Indy which is included by Borland with Delphi, C++ Builder, and Kylix.

Why IntraWeb Source is not Generally Available

While it is possible to reverse engineer IntraWeb, it is quite difficult without source and there are large pieces that are very difficult if not impossible to reverse engineer without source code. We also believe that our current competitors are morally and legally responsible enough not to reverse engineer our code. However releasing the source code to IntraWeb would undoubtedly create new competitors from countries where such legal protections do not exist. If the technology was not so unique, we would deal with this as any other vendor does, however IntraWeb is too unique and too tempting for such possibilities.

Source Code Availability

We realize that many companies have policies regarding source code availability and have also been stung by small vendors who discontinued a product or went out of business. To address this we have created two policies that should put your mind at ease.

Is all source code available?

All critical source is delivered. Only source relating to the encryption keys for generating license keys and other such confidential source code is omitted.

Escrow

IntraWeb source code has been escrowed with VSoft Technologies Pty of Australia. If for any reason IntraWeb is discontinued or can no longer be developed for unforeseen reasons the IntraWeb source code will be released as open source under the same licenses as Indy. Indy Licensing

Source Code Purchase

Source code is available for purchase. The availability of source code is evaluated on a case by case basis. We reserve the exclusive right to determine who we will allow to receive source code and who we reject. We may use any criteria we desire and the decision is ours alone.

In addition the purchasing of source code requires that certain conditions be met regarding the safe keeping of the source and a legal agreement be signed, notarized and an original delivered to us by post or courier.

Complete source code is included and includes all design time and runtime code with the exception of on unessential unit. The excluded unit contains code for decoding license keys and IntraWeb can be compiled by replacing this unit with a dummy stub.

Source code licenses are as follows:

  • Corporation - 5,000 Euros - Source code may be viewed by essential employees as outlined in agreement.
  • Individual - 1,000 Euros - Source code must be restricted to one individual and is not transferable to other individuals.

The source code license fee is a one time fee and is in addition to a normal IntraWeb Enterprise subscriptions. The term for which source code will be delivered applies to current major release and all updates to that version. (i.e. 5.0 would include 5.1, 5.2, etc) and will extend to any major versions released within six (6) months of the source code license purchase. That is, if the version upon source code purchase is version 5.x, and version 6.0 is released within 6 months of the source code purchase, you will receive version 6.0 and all updates to it as well. The source code license will terminate early if the normal IntraWeb Enterprise subscriptions are allowed to expire.
