Test Releases
What is a Test Release?
Test releases are releases with minor bug fixes to the official release versions. Test release are generally stable relative to the prior version. They are not betas, and are release versions. The only changes are minor bug fixes.
Test versions are released separately because no matter how small of a bug fix or change that is applied, sometimes the law of unintended consequences occurs. Because of this, releases are always released as test versions first, and then later marked as official releases if no major side effects or errors have been reported.
Testing
Occasionally bug fixes require larger changes that can impact other sections of code. While we do test such changes, there is no way to predict every situation end users put IntraWeb under with regards to source code. In addition, since IntraWeb's functionality relies heavily on Javascript interpretation, IntraWeb cannot be tested using automated tools. This makes formal testing a very long process.
Because manual testing is very intensive, we do limit the amount of testing performed on test releases. Full releases are tested much more heavily and this testing process takes several days.
Frequent Releases
In an effort to release bug fixes quickly to end users rather than release update packs at several month intervals, we issue releases approximately once per week. If you are not comfortable with frequent releases you should stay with official release versions.
